Active volcano! — in Tongariro National Park, New Zealand and this volcano erupted few days after we passed. This is an Active Volcano Zone and visiters are advised to move quickly on the 4.2 km path and keep all stops to a minimum. Tongariro is located 20 kilometres (12 mi) to the southwest of Lake Taupo, and is the northernmost of the three active volcanoes that dominate the landscape of the central North Island.
